Maximilian Gunther rounded out the 2017 European Formula 3 campaign with victory at Hockenheim, as Joel Eriksson finished runner-up in the standings.
Gunther dominated proceedings from pole position to capture his fifth win of the year, though he was unable to seal second overall, as Eriksson rose from the third row of the grid.
Eriksson jumped ahead of slow-starting Callum Ilott off the line and soon picked his way past Jake Hughes and Guan Yu Zhou to emerge in second place.
The leading two positions remained unthreatened across the remainder of the race, while Zhou held off Lando Norris to record another podium finish, leaving the champion in fourth spot.
Ilott, after his poor getaway, passed Hitech’s Hughes to round his season with fifth place, ahead of his compatriot, while Pedro Piquet took seventh.
Nikita Mazepin, Joey Mawson and David Beckmann completed the top 10.
