Joel Eriksson returned to the top step of the podium in Race 2 at the Red Bull Ring while Lando Norris stretched his title advantage with second place.
Eriksson kept Norris at bay on the opening lap and preserved a slender advantage over his rival throughout, as Norris remained a present threat, without providing a challenge.
The duo crossed the line separated by just 0.8s, as Eriksson recorded his first win since the Hungaroring round in June, while Norris grew his points lead to 84.
Only Maximilian Gunther can deny Norris the title, with the Briton poised to clinch the crown in Race 3 if his advantage is 75 or more points.
Gunther had a low-key race, moving from ninth on the grid to eighth at the flag, only gaining a position due to Ferdinand Habsburg running through the gravel on the last lap, as he tried to wrestle seventh from Jake Hughes.
Nikita Mazepin scored a podium in third spot, in front of Race 1 victor Callum Ilott, Jehan Daruvala, Ralf Aron and Hughes.
Gunther must out-score Norris by 10 points in Race 3 to keep the title battle alive, and do so from sixth on the grid, after taking eighth, as Joey Mawson and Habsburg rounded out the top 10.
