Nick Tandy will demonstrate a Le Mans-winning Porsche 919 Hybrid at the Brands Hatch round of the British Touring Car Championship.
Tandy, who won the French endurance classic in 2015 with Nico Hulkenberg and Earl Bamber, will be part of a run showcasing an array of Porsche production and racing machinery from over the years.
The special demonstration on September 30th-October 1st will mark the first time in over 20 years that a contemporary top-level sportscar has lapped the 2.4-mile Kent circuit.
Porsche won the Brands Hatch 1000km sportscar race nine times between 1969 and 1986, most famously in 1970 when Pedro Rodriguez and Leo Kinnunen raced a 917 to victory in appalling conditions.
Also on parade at the weekend will be a selection of the company's latest road-going models, including the 918 hypercar and the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.
"Brands Hatch is a circuit where I won in both a 911 GT3 Cup and a 911 GT3-R on my way to becoming a factory driver,” said Tandy.
“Porsche has a lot of history at the circuit too, so it's very special to be able to demonstrate the 919 Hybrid there.”
“The passion and enthusiasm [of BTCC] is always incredible, and hopefully we'll be able to show this impressive piece of engineering to a lot of fans who wouldn't otherwise get to see it."
Tandy’s own race team, JTR, will be in action at the same weekend in the Porsche Carrera Cup, where team driver Dino Zamparelli is in contention for the title.
The demonstration will also include the new 911 GT3-Cup model that will be used in the championship next season.
"When we knew there was an opportunity to bring the 919 Hybrid to Brands Hatch we had to make it happen,” added Ragnar Schulte, head of marketing and motorsport at Porsche Cars Great Britain.
“Brands Hatch and Porsche have so much history, not least of all from the days when the 956 and 962 were so successful here in Group C.”
“Both those cars represent such a large part of the heritage the 919 Hybrid has had to live up to.”
