Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship leader Sacha Fenestraz will make his European Formula 3 debut at this weekend’s Nurburgring round.
He joins Carlin, as the team expands to a five-car line-up, for a one-off F3 outing after recently testing for the team at Silverstone.
The 18-year-old is evaluating his options for 2018 and will race for Carlin alongside Jehan Daruvala, Ferdinand Habsburg, Ameya Vaidyanathan and points leader Lando Norris in Germany.
He finished runner-up in French Formula 4 in 2015, before winning races and finishing fifth in both the Formula Renault NEC and Eurocup categories last year.
Fenestraz has remained in the Eurocup series this season and has claimed four victories so far, leading the standings with two rounds remaining.
“This will be my first race weekend with the car so it will be a good learning experience for me,” he said.
“I’m happy to race with Carlin, we have seen how fast the team have been this year. I’m looking forward to it. It will be a good weekend to progress and learn about the car.”
