Valentino Rossi says he will do everything to ensure he's back riding as soon as possible after being discharged from hospital on Friday evening.
Rossi suffered displaced fractures of the tibia and fibula in his right-leg after being involved in an enduro motocross crash on Thursday. He was taken to the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Ospedali Riuniti for surgery, where metal plates were inserted into his leg.
Doctors have now given the Yamaha rider the OK to leave and recover at home, but have warned him that a minimum 30 days rest is required, which would rule him out of the next two rounds at San Marino and Aragon.
Rossi thanked hospital staff, but said he would see how his recovery goes before making a decision on his return to racing.
"I spent a good night, I slept, and this morning I felt good," said the Italian.
"The doctors visited me and they gave me the OK to go home, where I'll be able to rest even better. I will begin the rehabilitation as soon as possible and we’ll see how my body reacts before making any decisions.
"I have to say "thanks" once again to all the staff of the ‘Ospedali Riuniti’ in Ancona, but also Urbino's First Aid and the 118 Service, as well as all the friends that came to visit me.
"As I said yesterday, I will do everything I can to get back as soon as possible."
