Formula E has announced a small increase in power for next season and has made changes to the point for fastest lap.
The all-electric series continues with the 28kW/h battery designed and built by Williams Advanced Engineering and qualifying mode will continue to be capped at 200kW.
But, for season four, race mode will increase by 10kW from 170 to 180. This should make the races slightly longer and the cars faster in race trim.
Meanwhile FE has also revealed that the bonus point for fastest lap will be limited to the drivers classified in the top 10 finishers.
In every season three race, the fastest lap and extra point was claimed by a driver outside the points, mainly from drivers who suffered problems or got caught up in incidents early on.
A few other modifications to the regulations have been announced for season four, which begins in Hong Kong at the start of December.
A non-qualifying session will be eliminated when two races take place at the same event and each team now gets six promotional days (up from three).
There’s also the addition of a practice session day during the season and a practice session day reserved for rookies.
FE also officially confirmed the final entry list for season four:
- Andretti Formula E
- Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler
- Dragon Racing
- DS Virgin Racing
- Mahindra Racing
- NIO Formula E Team
- Panasonic Jaguar Racing
- Renault e.dams
- TECHEETAH
- Venturi Formula E Team
Audi becoming an official manufacturer with the Abt team means there is new branding, while Dragon Racing drops the Faraday Future name and NIO removes the NextEV mention.
