Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso retook the lead of the championship on Sunday as he claimed a sensational British Grand Prix victory.
The victory gives the Italian a fourth win of the season – the most of any rider – and a nine point lead over Marc Marquez, who's race was ended by a technical problem.
It was an incredibly close finish, with just a tenth splitting first and second, which went to Yamaha's Maverick Viñales, with Valentino Rossi completing the podium.
The race kicked off with a lightning start by Rossi who took the lead and disappeared off into the distance. Marquez followed, leading a group of four riders which included Cal Crutchlow, Viñales, Jorge Lorenzo and Dovizioso.
That was until a puff of smoke creapt from the rear of Marquez's Honda and the Spaniard was out of the race, shaking up the championship in the process.
The chasing pack quickly caught Rossi and with three laps remaining, Dovizioso made his move to snatch the lead, quickly followed by Viñales.
It was incredibly tight as the two headed around the final 5.9km lap of Silverstone. Having played his hand to perfection, Dovizioso was able to keep the advantage to the line – taking his fourth win of the year. Viñales took second, with Rossi completing the podium. Crutchlow, not quite able to get close enough to make his move, took fourth.
Lorenzo took home fifth place ahead of Johann Zarco, Dani Pedrosa and Scott Redding in eighth.
