Pirelli has confirmed which tyre compounds it will bring to the Brazilian and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix – the final two races on the 2017 Formula 1 calendar.
For the penultimate round of the season in Brazil, the official tyre supplier will make available the Supersoft, Soft and Medium tyres, which is one step softer than in 2016, when the Hard compound made an appearance.
For the final round in Abu Dhabi, the Ultrasoft, Supersoft and Soft tyres will be in action – the same compounds used at Yas Marina last year.
As per the regulations, one set of the softest compound available (Supersoft in Brazil, Ultrasoft in Abu Dhabi) must be set aside and used in Q3. Any driver that fails to make Q3 can use that compound in the race.
For the race itself, at least one of the two hardest compounds available must be used during at least one stint of the race (Soft or Medium in Brazil, Supersoft or Soft in Abu Dhabi).
Drivers are free to choose their remaining 10 sets of tyres from the allocated three compounds.
