Mercedes Formula 1 boss Toto Wolff has warned that his team mustn't get complacent with its points advantage and must anticipate a fight back from their rivals, namely Ferrari and Red Bull.
The championship momentum seems to have swung into Mercedes favour recently, with the team winning four of the last three races – the other of which was won by Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo thanks to a loose headrest for Baku race leader Lewis Hamilton.
That's handed Mercedes a 55-point lead over Ferrari in the Constructors' Championship, but with rivals Ferrari and Red Bull expected to bring big updates to the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend, Wolff says Mercedes must be prepared for a "fight back".
"We enjoyed a fantastic weekend in Silverstone but it is now something nice in the history books," said the Austrian. "[Now] we head to Budapest for the final race before the summer break.
"We have to do the job again beginning with first practice in Hungary. Our rivals will be determined to fight back strongly – and we have to anticipate that.
"There is no complacency at all at Mercedes, just a resolute determination to get the job done."
Despite the points advantage and Vettel's narrow one-point lead in the Drivers' Standings, which was greatly reduced last time out, Wolff insists both titles remain "in the balance" and the team must remain focussed on the job at hand.
"We have reached the halfway point of the 2017 season and both championships are very much in the balance right now," he added.
"The points tables show that we have a small buffer in the Constructors' race and a small deficit on the Drivers' side. But that's not important at this stage – there are no prizes awarded for the half-time champions.
"Our approach is to take it weekend by weekend, to build our performance at each circuit in a calm and logical way and to keep pushing.
"The time for worrying about the points will come later."
