Daniil Kvyat says he would like a quick decision on his future with Red Bull junior team Toro Rosso, but sees no reason why the two parties wouldn't wish to continue working together in 2018.
Red Bull have yet to take up an option on the Russian driver for next season, whilst Kvyat's team-mate Carlos Sainz has been told he will remain with the outfit for a fourth season.
Kvyat has been at the centre of several incidents this season, including in the two most recent races in Austria and Britain, where he was involved in first lap incidents, the blame for both placed on his shoulders by the race stewards.
Kvyat however believes he and the team are on a good level and wishes to remain at Toro Rosso for another year.
"I think our common trust is going back to a good level so I don't see any reason why I wouldn't want to collaborate," said Kvyat.
"They know everything about me and we already had some talks before, everyone is happy, I am happy with them, I think they're happy with me so I don't see any reason why we wouldn't want to collaborate.
"I need an answer as soon as possible because obviously it is getting to the part of the season that you want to know your future."
Whilst Kvyat doesn't wish to push the team for a decision, he believes having his future secured will allow him to focus on racing and getting back to where he needs to be.
"It would be great to know as soon as possible but I don't see any reason why we wouldn't want to collaborate together. I'm not a guy to give any deadlines, it is in their hands so why would I force it. But they know the better you are settled with your future, the more you can stay focused on your actual job."
He added: "I want to do my job. Red Bull have been taking care of me for the last seven, eight years. Whatever Dr Marko will decide, I will take the answer."
