Pirelli to take Ultrasoft tyres to Mexican GP

Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli will take the three softest compounds from its range of five to the Mexican Grand Prix later in 2017.

Pirelli has selected the Ultrasoft, Supersoft and Soft tyres to cope with the demands of the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in October.

As per usual, one set of the softest allocated tyres (Ultrasoft) must be set aside for use only in Q3, while either the Supersofts or Softs must be used during the race trim.

Pirelli’s choice is a step softer than the direction it took at last year’s Mexican Grand Prix, and is in line with recent selections.

It means that, of the 18 tyre designations announced so far, half have featured the three softest compounds, with the Hard tyre abandoned after it received negative feedback in Spain.
