Ricky and Jordan Taylor came through from the back of the Prototype grid to claim their fifth straight IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship victory of the season at Detroit.
Having recovered from a qualifying crash, Ricky Taylor pushed the #10 Cadillac DPi into the mid-pack before handing over to his brother during the race's only full course yellow period on lap 18.
Despite carrying several Balance of Performance restrictions in response to Cadillac's dominant start to the campaign, Jordan broke the Belle Isle circuit lap record on his way to slotting into second position behind Dane Cameron in the #31 Action Express Cadillac.
Cameron, who took over driving duties from Eric Curran, stayed out longer than the rest of the Prototype field but struggled with traffic and couldn't build an advantage big enough to keep Taylor behind during his final stop.
Consequently, Taylor cycled into the lead on lap 49 when Cameron inevitably pitted, and held on to claim victory by 4.948 seconds.
Joel Miller brought the #70 Mazda DPi through to claim the car's first podium of 2017 with team-mate Tom Long.
Miller moved up to second following the full course yellow, which had been called to recover the Visit Florida Riley prototype and a GTD Mercedes from the turn three barriers.
Miller produced an impressive final stint to generate a 14 second gap between himself and Joao Barbosa, who finished fourth in the pole-sitting Cadillac DPi shared with Christian Fittipaldi.
Tristan Nunez and Jonathan Bomarito rounded out the top five in their Mazda DPi.
Stephen Simpson was on course to take fourth in the JDC-Miller Motorsports ORECA-Gibson but dropped to sixth when the South African driver spun whilst attempting to pass Barbosa into turn one.
In GT Daytona, Acura clinched its maiden IMSA victory with Andy Lally and Katherine Legge holding off a tightly-packed train of cars.
The race had been dominated initially by the Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS with Lawson Aschenbach behind the wheel, but a slow pit stop under FCY conditions followed by a drive-line issue eliminated that car from contention.
Conversely, a fast service from the Acura crew lifted Lally into the lead after Legge finished her stint in second position.
Although Lally didn't break away from the field he did manage to defend his position and cross the line 2.441 seconds ahead of Alessandro Balzan, driving the Ferrari 488 started by Christina Nielsen.
Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow came through to finish third in their Lamborghini Huracan, with Brett Curtis and Jens Klingmann taking fourth for BMW.
Alegra Motorsports pair Daniel Morad and Mathieu Jaminet were on course for a podium finish in their Porsche 911 GT3-R, but a drive-through penalty for running over pit equipment during the team's FCY stop relegated them to 10th.
Another casualty was the championship-leading Mercedes AMG-GT3 of Ben Keating and Jeroen Bleekemolen, which retired on three wheels after Keating clattered the outside wall at the fountain turn.
The result promotes Balzan and Nielsen into the lead of the GTD drivers' championship, with the Mercedes pair slipping to second.
Prototype Challenge honours went to the Performance Tech Motorsports crew for the fourth race in a row.
Next up for the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship is a visit to Watkins Glen on July 2nd for the third round of the North American Endurance Cup.
