Gabby Chaves has ended practice six fastest for IndyCar rookie team Harding Racing, ahead of the first qualifying session for the Indianapolis 500.
Although the sixth practice session was the last chance for drivers to finalise their preparations for the first part of qualifying later in the day, there was a limited amount of running due to far from perfect weather conditions.
The start of the session was initially delayed slightly due to lingering mist around the 2.5-mile oval, before a brief caution period was caused due to moisture on the track later on.
Rahal was second quickest for RLL Racing, trading the top spot with Chaves during the final few minutes of the session.
Conor Daly was P3 for A.J. Foyt Racing, ending the session just ahead of team-mate Carlos Munoz.
Jack Harvey enjoyed a productive session, as the British racer completed seven laps in a bid to make up for lost time.
The former GP3 and IndyLights racer has endured a far from perfect month of May, making contact with the SAFER barrier on the first day of track action before being plagued with an engine issue yesterday.
Ryan Hunter-Reay was sixth for Andretti Autosport, ahead of 1996 Indianapolis 500 champion Buddy Lazier.
Lazier, who made his Indianapolis 500 debut back in 1989, ended the session just ahead of IndyCar returnee Sage Karam.
Karam produced the initial benchmark during the early stages of the session, before falling down the order once other drivers took to the track.
Big names such as Fernando Alonso, Helio Castroneves and reigning champion Simon Pagenaud elected not to take to the track during the session, for fear of damaging their cars ahead of the all-important first part of qualifying later in the day.
