Nicholas Latifi claimed the top spot on the second day of Formula 2 testing in Bahrain, with the DAMS driver setting a best time of 1:40.541 during the morning's running.

Latifi's lap was just over a tenth quicker than Russian Time's Luca Ghiotto and team-mate Artem Markelov, the pair just over a tenth adrift in second and third place.

MP Motorsport's Jordan King was fourth, just 0.001 ahead of Wednesday's pacesetter Charles Leclerc. The second MP car of Sérgio Sette Câmara had his times deleted after it was found he was driving an underweight car during the afternoon, however his morning time of 1:41.351 was good enough for P11 overall.

Sixth-placed Norman Nato, with a 1:41.057, and Alexander Albon, a tenth slower in seventh, also managed times in the 1:40 bracket.

Completing the top ten were ART's Nobuharu Matsushita, DAMS Oliver Rowland and McLaren protégé Nyck de Vries.

The majority of drivers failed to improve their afternoon times, as race simulations and pit stop practice was the focus.

Sergio Canamasas (Trident) and Raoul Hyman (Campos) were 17th and 19th respectively in the as-yet-unassigned cars.
