Alex Lynn joins Wayne Taylor Racing for Sebring 12 Hours, Petit Le Mans

Wayne Taylor Racing has confirmed that Alex Lynn will join its line-up for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship endurance events at Sebring and Road Atlanta this year.

Lynn, 23, won the GP3 title in 2014 before stepping up to GP2 the following year, becoming a regular race winner while also working at Williams in a development role.

The Briton left GP2 at the end of last year, having already made his FIA World Endurance Championship debut with Manor in Fuji as part of a push to move into sportscars full-time given the limited opportunities in Formula 1.

Lynn was confirmed as one of BMW's factory drivers for the Nürburgring 24 Hours earlier this week, and will now add the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans to his 2017 schedule with Wayne Taylor Racing.

Lynn replaces Max Angelelli, who retired from racing after winning the Rolex 24 at Daytona last month alongside full-season drivers Jordan and Ricky Taylor, as well as NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon.

"I am delighted to be making my IMSA debut with the Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R team – the racing team and carmaker who both have such an incredible heritage and passionate desire to win,” Lynn said.

“I would like to sincerely thank Wayne and Max for trusting me to join Ricky and Jordan in this incredible racecar.

“I look forward to learning a lot from the entire team and playing my part in building on the fantastic recent result at Daytona. I fully expect us to be fighting for wins at Sebring and Road Atlanta.”

“We welcome Alex to the Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R team with hopes of picking up where we left off at Daytona,” Wayne Taylor added.

“Alex is a very polished, young competitor who is cut from the same mold as Ricky and Jordan and Max in his ability to fight his way to the front and to stay there in seemingly any kind of racecar. He will be an ideal representative of this team, for Konica Minolta, for Cadillac, for all our partners.”

Lynn will make his debut at Sebring next month, with Petit Le Mans scheduled to take place at Road Atlanta on October 7.
