Ferrari would roll out the "red carpet" if Mick Schumacher were to express an interest in joining their junior programme, the Ferrari Driver Academy.
Schumacher, son of seven-time world champion Michael, has impressed during the early stages of his motorsport career, having finished second in ADAC Formula 4 and Italian F4 with Prema. This year he will make his F3 debut.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, FDA manager Massimo Rivola confirmed they were following his career progress and were interested in signing him.
"Obviously we are following him," he said. "This year we will have the opportunity to stay very close to Mick, because he will be team-mate of our FDA driver [Guan Yu] Zhou in the Prema team.
"About his future, I don't know what Mick will decide to do. But if he would like to enter the FDA programme, he will find a red carpet."
Rivola says he has been impressed by both his on-track performance and the way he handles himself outside of the car, particularly due to the increased media pressure from being the son of F1's most successful driver.
"Mick seems to be very polite and he's not full of himself. They [his parents] did a very good job with him.
"He's very young, and he must manage a very huge media pressure. But he is doing it very well."
