ART Grand Prix’s Sergey Sirotkin has been handed a 10-second time penalty for colliding with Artem Markelov during the GP2 sprint race.
The Russian driver was looking to make a move up the inside of Oliver Rowland on the last lap at Spa-Francorchamps, under braking for the final chicane.
But he braked too late and crashed into Markelov, who was holding onto the final point at the time.
Rowland took advantage to claim eighth, with Sirotkin crossing the line with a damaged front wing in ninth.
However, the stewards deemed he was at fault for the collision and gave him a 10-second time penalty.
This means with the penalty added to his race time that he falls from ninth place to 15th.
