Force India don’t expect much change to current pecking order as focus switches to 2017

Force India aren't predicting any major changes to the pecking order during the remaining nine races of the 2016 season, as the majority of teams, if not all, have switched focus to next season as they prepare for big changes to the regulations.

Whilst many are predicting a major shift in the pecking order in 2017 with the introduction of quicker and more aggressive cars and tyres, it should however remain stable until the final race of the current season according to Vijay Mallya, as teams will likely have completed their current development programmes to get a head start next year.

That bodes well for Force India which is chasing its best ever Constructors' finish.

"We are performing well and delivering results, and Spa represents a good opportunity to continue our run of points finishes," said team boss Mallya.

"The updates we introduced at Silverstone have made a difference and there is still more performance to be extracted from our chassis.

"I think all teams have now switched their focus to 2017 so the pecking order should not change dramatically. Some tracks will suit us more than others, but Spa is certainly a track where the VJM09 can be strong."

Force India currently stand fifth in the standings which would match their best ever finish, however they're closing in on Williams in fourth and have outscored the Grove team by 18 points in the last three races alone and even more since Monaco.

"There’s still a long way to go, but at least we are in the fight," added Mallya. "I regard our podium in Monaco as the turning point of our season – both in terms of the result and our public perception. Then, our strong showing in Baku just reinforced the great job we are doing as a team.

"It’s a fierce battle in the midfield, but we are performing well. Since Monaco we have scored 67 points compared to the 31 of our nearest rival. If we continue scoring at this rate, it will be interesting to see where we can end the season."
