ART Grand Prix’s Charles Leclerc has been given a grid penalty for the first GP3 race of the Hockenheimring weekend.
The French driver, who competed in Formula 1 first practice for the German Grand Prix for the Haas team on Friday, was found to have impeded Giuliano Alesi’s Trident during qualifying.
The incident took place during the session at the 16th and 17th corners of the Hockenheim track.
Leclerc had originally qualified in second place but will drop to fifth on the race one grid after the stewards handed him a three-place penalty.
Meanwhile in GP2 Prema Racing’s Antonio Giovinazzi has been demoted to the back of the grid for the feature race in Germany.
His car was found to have not complied with the height dimensions of the undertray and he was excluded from the results of qualifying. He will start P22.
