DAMS driver Santino Ferrucci has been given a grid penalty for the first GP3 race at Silverstone after an incident during qualifying.
The American rookie made contact with ART Grand Prix’s Charles Leclerc during the qualifying session.
The collision at Turns 16/17 damaged Leclerc’s front wing and caused Ferrucci to stop on track with a puncture.
Stewards deemed Ferrucci was at fault and have handed him a five-place grid drop for the opening GP3 race at Silverstone.
Ferrucci qualified in 17th place for race one and will therefore drop to the back of the grid with the penalty.
Leclerc’s ART GP team-mate Alexander Albon will start the opening Silverstone GP3 race from pole position.
