Sebastian Vettel has ended the third and final practice session fastest for Ferrari, ahead of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.

Meanwhile championship leader Nico Rosberg endured a session to forget, with the German racer suffering a suspension failure on the exit of Turn 2 and slamming into the wall.

The incident immediately caused a momentary red flag delay, with Rosberg visibly angry with the circumstances surrounding his incident.

At the start of the session both Rosberg and team-mate Lewis Hamilton were struck by severe blistering on their rear tyres, forcing them both to return to the pits and sit out a large part of the session.

After much deliberation within the Mercedes camp both drivers were sent back out onto the track on brand new ultra soft tyres, only for Rosberg to suffer his suspension failure and slam into the wall, creating an immediate debate within the paddock over what caused the failure.

Despite the issue on Rosberg’s car Hamilton was immediately sent back out onto the track as the session was resumed with over ten minutes remaining on the clock, with the Briton managing to end the session third fastest and with improving tyre management.

The Red Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen followed the leaders in fourth and fifth, ahead of the Williams duo of Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa.

Bottas in particular enjoyed a busy final practice session for the Grove-based outfit, spinning in spectacular fashion at the final corner during the latter stages of the session.

Nico Hulkenberg ended the session eighth fastest for Force India, ahead of the McLaren duo of Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso.

The McLaren drivers will both be aiming to creep into the top ten shootout during qualifying, after a productive final practice.

Further down the order Pascal Wehrlein managed to end proceedings in 13th for Manor, with the outfit potentially poised to break into Q2 during qualifying with renewed pace.

Meanwhile Rosberg ended the session 22nd and last for Mercedes, with his time from the early part of the session well over a second slower than that of Felipe Nasr in 21st.

The German will be hoping that his car can be repaired in time for the all-important qualifying session, and that more importantly the internal components of his car are undamaged.
