Rapax driver Arthur Pic will start Sunday's GP2 sprint race from 20th position after picking up a penalty for colliding with Artem Markelov during Saturday's feature race.
Pic attempted to pass Markelov at Turn 4 on lap seven of the race, but squeezed the Russian Time driver against the wall in the process.
Pic was out on the spot and while Markelov continued, his steering failed and he crashed into a barrier. Following a meeting by the stewards, Pic was awarded a five-place grid penalty and will start 20th.
It was just one of many collisions during the chaotic first ever race on the Baku City Circuit and both drivers were eliminated from the running.
They joined ten other drivers on the sidelines and just a further ten drivers completed the full race distance, following four safety car periods due to incidents.
Daniel de Jong will start the sprint race from reverse-grid pole, after finishing eighth in the feature race.
