2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski completed his first laps at the wheel of an Indycar during Wednesday’s Road America test.
Keselowski drives for Penske in NASCAR and took over the team’s No.22 Indycar, driven this season by Simon Pagenaud.
He completed laps at Road America, which hosts the next round of the latest IndyCar campaign from the June 24-26, in the afternoon.
11 cars took part in the test day, with Pagenaud giving the No.22 Dallara-Chevrolet a shakedown in the morning before handing it over to Keselowski.
“I've always wanted to drive an Indy car, I think (Penske President) Tim Cindric knew that," he said.
"The opportunity came up to dip my toes in the water and kind of expand my knowledge base and put it in the back of my mind for wherever it goes, I don't know.
“But it was a heck of an opportunity and I'm glad to have a chance."
"First thing I told Simon he has a very secure job, at least from me. I've got a lot of respect for him and his team, everyone at Team Penske.
“This 22 Menards team, they did a great job today and I had a lot of fun going with them. I learned a ton today and had a lot of fun. I've got to let it soak in here to think about all of it. It was a heck of a day here at Road America.”
Meanwhile IndyCar released two videos from the test featuring onboard footage.
