Felipe Massa would wave goodbye to Formula 1 after 15 years competing in the sport if he can't secure a competitive seat next season, with his contract at Williams set to expire at the end of the year.
The Brazilian racer is currently negotiating a new deal with the Grove outfit, but with rumours suggesting he could be replaced, Massa could eye a switch to another series if a competitive seat isn't available elsewhere.
"I want to be doing Formula 1 when I have a team that I really feel happy to work with, and a team that can be competitive," Massa told Press Association Sport.
"If I am working in a team that I know will be at the back, I will decide to stop and do a different thing," he added.
When asked what that might be, he said: "I like WEC and maybe even Formula E. It is a series that is growing, and maybe in two or three years it will be completely different and more enthusiastic for the drivers in terms of the cars."
Massa denied the rumours surrounding his future are distracting him, insisting he isn't worried "about anything".
“For sure not," he added. "We all know about rumours in F1, and to be honest, I am zero scared or worried about anything.
"I am really happy working for Williams – It would be nice to stay, but it would be nice to stay in a team where you really see that you can do a good job and have a good future. I am ready for everything to be honest."
