Adam Carroll looks set to make his Formula E debut this month, with the Northern Irishman the leading candidate to take over Antonio Felix da Costa's seat at Team Aguri for the Berlin ePrix.
Da Costa has a DTM commitment at the Red Bull Ring which clashes with the Berlin round of the Formula E championship.
Carroll, who has already undergone a seat fitting at Team Aguri, has also been submitted to the FIA as the preferred driver replacement – therefore if he isn't confirmed later this week, Team Aguri would face a fine for reaching the maximum allowed number of driver changes.
Carroll has come close to making his Formula E debut on several occasions, but none have materalised. He was on standby for Nick Heidfeld at the Buenos Aires ePrix in February and also had a seat fitting at DS Virgin after Jean-Eric Vergne was taken ill. Both however raced.
Carroll has also tested for both Mahindra and NEXTEV.
