Marc Marquez led a Repsol Honda one-two in second MotoGP practice in Argentina, finishing just 0.025 seconds clear of team-mate Dani Pedrosa.
The two-time MotoGP champion improved in the final stages of the session on new tyres to go quickest. Behind Pedrosa, Maverick Vinales was third for Team Suzuki Ecstar, ahead of Jack Miller and Cal Crutchlow.
Scott Reading was next up, with Valentino Rossi seventh. The Italian narrowly avoided a collision with Miller during the session.
Suzuki’s Aleix Espargaro wasn’t so lucky and suffered two crashes during FP2, eventually finishing eighth.
Bradley Smith was ninth and Andrea Dovizioso completed the top 10. Hector Barbera, Eugene Laverty and Pol Espargaro all finished ahead of reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo.
It was a low-key session for the Yamaha rider, who finished 1.3 seconds down on Marquez’s time. Andrea Iannone was 15th for Ducati.
