Michele Pirro will take over Danilo Petrucci's Pramac seat for this week's Qatar pre-season test, following Petrucci's Phillip Island crash a fortnight ago.
Petrucci underwent a three-hour operation on his right-hand last week, but will miss the final test ahead of the season opener in late-March.
It's not known whether Pretrucci will be able to take part in the race, but it's understood the team have prepared a special simulator which will allow the Italian to excerise his hand.
Pirro has flown to Losail with the Pramac team and will test alongside Scott Redding. He could also be drafted in to race at Losail should Petrucci's injuries fail to heal in time.
