Chip Ganassi will be inducted into the Motorsport Hall of Fame of America later this year in recognition of his services to motorsport.
Ganassi enjoyed a short racing career before turning his hand to team management, setting up Chip Ganassi Racing in 1989.
More than a quarter of a century later, CGR has tasted enormous success in IndyCar, racking up over 100 wins and 11 championships including Scott Dixon's title victory in 2015.
Ganassi also has interests in NASCAR, sportscar racing and rallycross, and is one of the most influential figures in American motorsport.
After being named as one of seven inductees to the Motorsport Hall of Fame of America, Ganassi said he had "never been humbled like this before" and expressed his gratitude to all who had worked with him during his career.
"I’m truly grateful and honored to be part of the 2016 Motorsports Hall of Fame of America class of inductees,” Ganassi said. “This is really a testament to all the hard work through the years by our drivers and teams.
“Many of the hall’s inductees are my heroes. To have my name listed alongside theirs is something I will always cherish. And to be inducted June 29 at Daytona International Speedway, where our organization has achieved so much success, makes this even more special.
"No team owner, no team representative can do it on their own," he said. "It takes a team and I've been lucky to work with some great people over the years."
