Formua 1 drivers will no longer spray Mumm champagne on the podium, as has been tradition for the past 15 years, after the sport chose to end its sponsorship deal.
Pernod Ricard, owner of Mumm, had its €5 million (£3.7m, $5.4m) extension rejected by Formula One Management, bringing an end to their relationship.
Instead, drivers will be presented with Moët et Chandon, which will replace Mumm as F1’s official podium champagne.
Mumm meanwhile has extended its sponsorship deal with Formula E.
“We are very proud of our past and have enjoyed 15 years as the official champagne of Formula 1, seeing great success in terms of visibility and awareness,” a statement from Pernod Ricard said.
“In our mission to continually innovate, excite and push the boundaries, we have chosen to explore a new opportunity – Formula E, electric motor racing.
“It is truly ground breaking, has a strong fit with our brand values and is a natural evolution in motor racing,” he added.
