Toro Rosso rookie Max Verstappen has won a trio of awards at the FIA’s prize giving gala in Paris on Friday night, including an award for his overtake on Felipe Nasr.

The Dutch driver has been hailed as a future great following a stand out rookie season which saw him finish in the points in six consecutive races – a new record for the Toro Rosso team.

He won the ‘Action of the Year’ award for his pass on Nasr at the Belgian Grand Prix. It was a daring move on the outside of Spa’s flat-out Blanchimont corner.

He was also awarded ‘Rookie of the Year’ as well as ‘Personality of the Year’.

“It’s nice to win the Action of the Year for the second time, because I really enjoy overtaking on track,”said the 18-year-old.

“It’s a great honour to win the Rookie of the Year award, as it’s voted for by the Drivers’ Commission and I have to say, getting two fourth place finishes in my first F1 season is more than I expected.

“Personality of the Year? I’m not sure why I won that, but it’s nice to know the media like me.”
