Rosberg takes hat-trick of wins to end 2015 on a high

Nico Rosberg has never taken three race wins in a row, but that all changed in Abu Dhabi as the Mercedes driver finished the 2015 season on a high.

The German led from start to finish and only came under threat at one point, when team-mate Lewis Hamilton closed to within a second, before Mercedes neutralised the battle by pitting Rosberg.

The team then chose to keep Hamilton out for several laps before pitting him, which failed to work for the Briton, who went on to finish second, eight seconds adrift of his team-mate.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen completed the podium, but never came close to battling Mercedes for the lead. His team-mate Sebastian Vettel finished fourth, coming from 15th on the grid.

Sergio Perez hung on for fifth, but was under pressure from Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo, eventually finishing just a second apart.

Max Verstappen finished 12th, but was demoted after the race to 16th for ignoring blue flags and gaining an unfair advantage off track.

Pastor Maldonado was the only retirement following a clash with Fernando Alonso at the very start of the race at Turn 1.
