Lewis Hamilton says he has achieved all he set out to achieve in Formula 1 after equaling his idol Ayrton Senna’s three titles with victory in the United States.
The Briton was overwhelmed, declaring the victory “the best moment of his life”.
When asked what was next, Hamilton said: “For me the target was to get the three that Ayrton had.
“I don’t know what is going to come next. There is no-one else I look to who I want to emulate.
“I feel like I’ve got the baton for myself and Ayrton, and will carry that on and see how far I can take it.”
Despite last years title being his first with Mercedes, and at a new team following a brave move away from McLaren, Hamilton said his latest is even more special.
“I’m just overwhelmed, it’s difficult to find the words. It’s crazy to think I’m a three-time Formula 1 world champion,” he said.
“This one feels special – it tops last year as it’s equaling Ayrton.”
