Ferrari willing to supply Red Bull with engines

Ferrari would be more than happy to open up discussions with Red Bull about supplying it with engines in the future, according to Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne.

Red Bull has publicly criticised its current supplier Renault due to a lack of reliability and power, with speculation mounting that it could switch to a rival engine supplier.

Whilst team owner Dietrich Mateschitz admitted this week that Renault is “detroying their enjoyment”, he said they had no choice but to remain with the French manufacturer as a factory team as winning as a customer simply isn’t possible.

Marchionne however is open to the idea of Red Bull using Ferrari engines.

“I think we can provide engines to any of the teams that want to race. As long as we keep control over the aerodynamic work on the car, I think there’s going to be enough distinguishing traits between us and the competition.

“We are more than glad to try to provide a level playing field now that the engine is there,” he said on Sunday in the Austrian Grand Prix paddock.

“I talk to everybody and I have a lot of respect for Red Bull,” he added.

“I think they’ve done a lot for the sport, they’ve had the world championship for a number of years. I think they will find their way again and if we can help them get there, we’d be more than glad to do it.”
