Webber and Vettel back on talking terms again

Former team-mates Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel are on talking terms once again, following a difficult period at Red Bull which ended with them refusing to talk to one another.

The pair were partnered between 2009 and 2013, and whilst they enjoyed a good relationship early on, it began to sour with each passing season.

It was particularly explosive following the 2013 Malaysian Gand Prix in which Vettel passed Webber despite having been told to hold station through the use of a coded message, ‘Multi 21’.

“Malaysia 2013 was the icing on the cake in what was a difficult relationship for four years,” Webber said this week. “Now, it’s different when not competing, we’re not inside the boxing ring anymore.”

Webber says their relationship has changed now they are no longer competiting against one another.

“We actually flew from Melbourne to Dubai after the Melbourne Grand Prix and were pretty much sitting together and had a good chat.

“Time’s a great healer. When you are in there going for it and want the same territory it’s very hard to come up for air, and every season rolls into one.

“Now I think time’s moved on and we’ll see,” he added. “We were at odds at the end of the day, but I suppose we’re not at odds when we’ve got our helmets off.”
