Lewis Hamilton topped the third and final practice session for the Australian Grand Prix ahead of qualifying, though his 1:27.867 was a tenth slower than what Nico Rosberg managed in FP2.

The Mercedes duo were split by the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel, seven-tenths back, whilst Rosberg was a further three-tenths off.

Whilst Ferrari look to be in the hunt with Vettel’s team-mate Kimi Raikkonen slotting in sixth fastest, Williams too look quick with Valtteri Bottas fourth and Felipe Massa fifth.

Lotus look to have improved and took seventh and eighth with Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado respectively, whilst just a tenth off was Carlos Sainz Jr for Toro Rosso and Felipe Nasr for Sauber.

Their team-mates took up positions 11 and 12, with the Force India duo struggling due to limited to limited pre-season testing as they could only go 13th and 14th quickest.

Red Bull’s session was a nightmare with Daniel Ricciardo stopping on track – he’s already missed FP2 due to engine troubles – and team-mate Daniil Kvyat only managed six laps.

The McLaren pairing split the Red Bulls with Kevin Magnussen leading Jenson Button.
