Adrian Newey says his future remains tied to Red Bull, despite Ferrari’s reported offer of a £12 million ($20m, €14.8m) annual salary – £5 million more than he earns with his current employer.
The Briton has been the target of several recent approaches, but Ferrari, desperate to taste success, made a fresh offer to the designer recently which would have put him on a similar wage to star driver Fernando Alonso.
In a short statement however, Newey quashed the rumours surrounding his future.
“I remain committed to Red Bull for the foreseeable future,” he said.
Whilst it doesn’t rule out an eventual move, it will most likely see Newey staying with Red Bull until at least the end of 2015.
Sebastian Vettel, speaking on Wednesday, said he was confident the 55-year-old wouldn’t be departing anytime soon.
“We have been working very closely together, not just me, but the whole team,” he said.
“If it is [just] a story in the end. How much truth there is, maybe we will find out, maybe we will never find out. I am not too interested in that right now to be honest.”
