The French Grand Prix could be set for a return as early as 2015 according to the organisers at the Magny-Cours circuit in Nevers.
France first hosted a grand prix in 1906 and then 86 times since then up until 2008 when it lost the rights.
Serge Saulnier, chairman of the board at the Magny-Cours circuit, revealed that for the past three years they’ve been working on a plan to bring F1 back to the track and they believe it could happen as soon as next year, but he stressed nothing had been formally agreed.
“We are still in negotiations with FOM,” he told Infosport+. “We are a candidate for a date in 2015, but for the moment nothing is signed.
“We have been working on it for more than three years, it has built slowly but surely, and I feel that the time has arrived to sign this agreement.
“I hope and I would like it to be done before the summer.”
