Pastor Maldonado enjoyed a successful day of testing for Lotus on Wednesday to go quickest with a lap of 1:24.871. The Venezuelan also completed 102 laps.
It was a dry start to the final day of the post-Spanish Grand Prix test, which saw the cars immediately hit the track, minus Caterham which couldn’t repair their car following a crash on Tuesday with Kamui Kobayashi behind the wheel.
Maldonado was a second quicker than Nico Rosberg in the Mercedes. The team were helping the FIA to evaluate a new ‘megaphone’ exhaust aimed at increasing the volume of the V6 power units.
Kimi Raikkonen was third quickest ahead of Esteban Gutierrez.
Susie Wolff meanwhile made her debut in the Williams FW36. She completed 55 laps, recovering from a morning spin which saw her end up in the gravel.
Jules Bianchi sat out much of the afternoon, but went sixth quickest with a late lap. Whilst Sebastian Vettel was sidelined for the morning.
Stoffel Vandoorne has his maiden outing for McLaren and completed 136 laps to help him earn his super license, whilst testing for Pirelli.
