Rubens Barrichello is rooting for fellow Brazilian Felipe Massa this season and he believes the 32-year-old has the chance to win not just races, but the title too.
Speaking to Brazil’s Globo, Barrichello drew similarities between his departure from Ferrari when he moved to Brawn GP and fought for the title to Massa’s situation.
“Felipe has a good chance at Williams,” he said. “I hope he can go very well, win races and fight for the title, just as I did that year [in 2009].”
Barrichello, who ended his long F1 career with Williams, is confident his former team has what it takes to fight at the front despite suffering a recent slump.
“I’ve been following all the tests and am anxious to see if the Williams car is as competitive as it seems,” he added.
“The team to beat at the moment is Mercedes, but Williams seems to be there.”
