Lotus has lost another high profile engineer as Ciaron Pilbeam has chosen to leave in favour of a position at McLaren.

Pilbeam was Mark Webber’s chief race engineer at Red Bull for many years before he moved to Lotus last year.

In the wake of financial struggles at Lotus, a number of engineers have fled, Pilbeam being one of several.

McLaren meanwhile has been on a recruitment driver to bolster its technical department after a below par 2013 season.
