Lotus team principal Eric Boullier is certain that Lotus won’t be the only outfit to miss the opening pre-season test of 2014.
Lotus recently confirmed it’s E22 wouldn’t be ready in time for the Jerez test which kicks off at the Spanish circuit on January 28th.
Boullier, whilst admitting it wasn’t an ideal situation, previously warned that the earlier than usual test date would likely be missed by some.
“We already said a month ago that it is going to be tight,” he told the BBC. “Actually most of the teams agreed it was going to be tight. Then it was a decision we took.
“It is true the car will not be ready on time, but we will be ready shortly after that – and in some ways, it is not bad because we will have time to watch what the others are doing and nobody will be able to watch what we are doing.”
Whilst he’s hoping to see what Lotus’s rivals are doing, he’s certain not all of them will be present.
“You will see, we will not be the only team not being in Jerez,” he added. “I know this for a fact already.”
So far, McLaren, Mercedes and Caterham have confirmed they will be in attendance.
