Kimi Raikkonen’s current race engineer Mark Slade will not be leaving Lotus and following the Finnish driver to Ferrari.
It was believed Slade would have been part of Raikkonen’s negotiations with Ferrari after he and the Briton formed a strong relationship over the years.
Slade was Raikkonen’s engineer at McLaren between 2002 and 2006 and then played a role in the 33-year-olds return to Lotus.
Raikkonen however isn’t concerned by Ferrari’s decision to use one of its current engineers as he knows the team from his previous spell with the Italians.
“I enjoy working with him and we have achieved good results with him,” he said on Friday. “But I know the people from Ferrari, and I have achieved good results there.
“It was important to have him here [at Lotus] when I came back because he was in the team, he knew the team and I know him.
“It has been a good two years but we see what happens next year.”
