There had been fears that the British Grand Prix might suffer from lower than expected crowds after reports that ticket sales in the run up to the event were well behind that of last year.
However circuit boss Richard Phillips has confirmed they expect one of their largest ever attendances following a record number of ticket sales in the week leading up to the event.
“The six weeks leading up to this year’s British Grand Prix has seen unprecedented levels of interest – it’s been the fastest selling period we’ve ever had, with record levels of ticket sales over the last few days,” he said.
“Add to that the fact that tickets are being sold ‘on the gate’ each day, this year’s event will be one of our biggest ever.”
Attendance figures from Friday practice came in at just over 80,000, matching that of 2012, and it’s expected that both Saturday and Sunday will see sell out crowds.
A limited number of race day tickets are available to buy at gate 1.
