Nico Hulkenberg has admitted his move to Sauber has been ‘tough’ with the German having scored just five points in seven races.
Hulkenberg relocated from Force India to the Swiss outfit at the start of the year in a move which he expected would boost his career. However Sauber have failed to continue their good form from 2012 – which saw them score four podiums – and instead they’ve been running in the lower midfield with eighth their highest finish to date.
Meanwhile his former team, Force India, is enjoying its best season yet.
Hulkenberg however is patient over Sauber’s future prospects.
“It is tough,” he said about his season. “It [moving teams] didn’t work as expected but, that’s life.
“We just have to keep our heads down and focus on the current situation trying to improve the car, make it faster.
“There’s still the second half of the season then we have to get more points here and there,” he added.
“I’m pretty confident, but how much of a step and how much we can transform this season it’s still to be seen.”
