The organisers of the proposed Thai Grand Prix have approved the route in which the circuit will snake through the streets of Bangkok.
The street circuit, which is expected to join the 2015 F1 calendar, takes in several famous monuments including Democracy Monument, the Grand Palace the Temple of Dawn.
The route will be roughly 6km in lenght (to be finalised) with a capacity crowd of 150,000 which Kanokphand Chulakasem, governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, says will partly be made up of floating grandstands along the Chao Phraya River.
“As the starting and finishing point would be on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, we may be able to build the main stands in the river. It would also be convenient for transportation of equipment,” he told the Bangkok Post.
“Only a small group of residents would be affected by the proposed route.”
The government are set to vote on the plans in the coming weeks.
The proposed circuit below is based on the length of the circuit and the streets names provided. Additional corners will likely be included.
