Several drivers are lining up to replace Luiz Razia at Marussia if he loses the seat due to contractual issues.
We reported earlier this week that the Brazilian has run into funding issues, with more than one personal sponsor failing to make the promised payments to Marussia in time.
Razia acknowledged the problems, but said he hoped to resolve them shortly.
“We trust them [the sponsors], but there have been some conflicts. We will solve it. We only need a few days,” he said.
However it seems Marussia are growing tired of waiting and have been in talks with potential replacements which are believed to include Heikki Kovalainen, Vitaly Petrov, Narain Karthikeyan, Bruno Senna, Jules Bianchi and Kamui Kobayashi.
The F1 Times columnist Marc Priestley, who is covering testing in Barcelona, reports that a potential replacement may undergo a seat fitting on Thursday evening in order to give them some time behind the wheel of the MR02 before the season opener in Australia.
