Bernie Ecclestone says it wouldn’t be a bad thing if Red Bull weren’t to win the drivers’ and constructors’ championships in 2013.

The 82-year-old is keen for a change at the top following the Austrian team’s recent success, which has seen them crowned triple champions in consecutive years. He is however grateful for their contribution to F1.

“Red Bull has done much for the reputation of our sport, Formula 1 must be grateful to the team.” he told Corriere della Sera.

“However, after three years, it would be not be bad if there were to be a change at the top.”

When asked who he’d like to see win, he replied: “Ferrari,” despite the recent falling out between him and president Luca di Montezemolo with whom he still regards a friend.

“Montezemolo is still a friend and I’m convinced that he didn’t really intend to say the things he said about me, about my age and my ability to continue to work. I’m happy – it’s just ‘role playing'” he added.
