Ferrari have taken the decision to close their own wind tunnel in Maranello in an attempt to validate the data it’s producing.
The Italian squad have had difficulties developing their car because of inconsistent wind tunnel data which has forced them to use Toyota’s tunnel in Cologne – which will also be used to develop the teams 2013 challenger.
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo revealed that team principal Stefano Domenicali has taken the decision to close their facility for the winter, until it has been recalibrated and the issues identified.
“Domenicali has reached a conclusion: to shut down our wind tunnel for a while and do our tests elsewhere, in order to verify and re-calibrate everything,” Montezemolo told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It will take time. I don’t know whether this will happen in December or January, it’s up to him: I have absolute faith in Domenicali,” he added.
