Webber reprimanded for separate incident

Mark Webber has been reprimanded for leaving the track on two occasions during his in-lap at the end of the final qualifying session.

The Red Bull driver however didn’t face any action for his alledged blocking of Timo Glock during Q1.

The stewards said Webber hadn’t blocked the Marussia man, but decided he deliberately left the circuit twice without reason, therefore reprimanding him for breaking Article 20.2 of the FIA Sporting Regulations.

“Drivers must use the track at all times. For the avoidance of doubt the white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track but the kerbs are not.

“A driver will be judged to have left the track if no part of the car remains in contact with the track.

“Should a car leave the track the driver may rejoin, however, this may only be done when it is safe to do so and without gaining any advantage. A driver may not deliberately leave the track without any justifiable reason.”

This amendement was added after his team-mate, Sebastian Vettel, left the track boundaries at the 2011 Abu Dhabi GP during his in-lap to ensure he had enough time for a second flying lap.
