Nico Rosberg wants his current team-mate and seven time world champion Michael Schumacher, to remain at Mercedes in 2013.
The 43-year-old looks set to retire for a second time after a disappointing comeback, whilst speculation that Lewis Hamilton could take his seat continues to mount.
Rosberg though is certain he will be at the Anglo-German outfit next season and he would like Schumacher to remain so too.
“I’m definitely with the Silver Arrows [Mercedes] and I’m looking forward to getting some more race wins next season,” he told the DAPD news agency.
“I think it would be right if he [Schumacher] stays,” added Rosberg. “We get along well, the competition between us is good, Michael is still at a very, very high level and it’s a real challenge to race against him.
In regards to the driver market which is quite unsettled at the moment with uncertainty at a handful of teams including Mercedes, McLaren, Sauber and Ferrari, Rosberg says things will become clearer when one of the ‘big three’ announce their plans.
“Not much will happen until Schumacher, Hamilton or Massa are able to say ‘I’m definitely here’,” he explained.
